Reflection 2021

 

This is my reflection of my year in Tui and all the things I have enjoyed and worked on.

Haiku Poem

 We did a Japanese poem called a haiku poem it has three lines. Each line has a different amount of syllables you have to understand syllables to write a haiku poem. The first line has to have five syllables  second line seven and five in the third line. I really enjoyed doing this but also found it quit challenging.         

Mr Invisible

First we had to make up a Little Miss or Mr men character then write a story about our character.  We had to have a problem, solution and characters.  

 PROBLEM

Mr space left Mr Invisible heading straight for then sun and his computer got hacked. 

SOLUTION 

Ring the police and turn around.

CHARACTERS

                                       Mr Invisible, Mr Space, Mr President,  Mr Police and Mrs Police.

Next we had to make an animation about our writing then record your self reading your story with the animation playing.

I had to make two chapters because we only had five minutes to record each video using Screencastify. My reading and my story was really long so it took more than five minuets to read.

I found it hard to read all of my story in one video.  I liked doing the animation.

Growing My Own Kowhai Trees

 

I really wanted to find a Kowhai seed pod and one day dad came home from work with a Kowhai seed pod. Then dad said that we would plant them tomorrow. These are the steeps that we did. 1: Chip a little piece of the seed so you can see the cream coloured bit inside also make sure that you don't chip it where the seed sprouts from. 2: Put them in water and leave them to sit for 24 hours when they sink or swell they are ready to plant. 3: Plant them in a seed tray with seed raising mix it should only take 7 days to sprout and make sure to water them every second day.

 I loved growing my Kowhai seed's because it will look beautiful when it grows into a tree in my garden.

 

This is my nature creation, it is called shell academy where fairy's paint shells. There is some shells everywhere. The shell academy is next to the beach. T

hey have a little house where they all stay. That house has a path down to the beach on each side of the path there are pointy shells I think they are beautiful. I also made a mural by sticking little stones onto a piece of wood and there is a letterbox with a letter in side. The letterbox is a shell and the letter is a shell with little stones on it to.                             

I enjoyed this but also found it challenging.        

Family Photo Challenge

 

This is me and my family squished into a photo. we couldn't get the rabbits though. They were to fast. Not everyone behaved Hugh our dog kept trying to lick Lincoln and Belle the ginger cat was wiggling on the other hand Sam the grey and white cat was perfectly fine.

Nature Hunt

These are the pictures of what I found when I had the day off school!  We had the day off school because our wonderful principal said that we had been working so hard in lock down and that it was sunny so to celebrate we could have the day off school! We had only one task to do and that was to find some things that were out in nature. I didn't find all of the things but I did find some and that is what all of these  photos are and now I am going to describe what they are:                                      

The concrete fence is symmetrical, the flax has stripes, there is a cloud in the sky above the ocean the ocean is also wet and cold, the shell is intricate, when I rub my head across the tramp walls it goes all spiky because of the static electricity that was something I never noticed before, Pohutakawa flowers are beautiful, Lincoln, Hugh the dog and I playing in the waves is something special,  the moss is soft and the sand is soft to, the pink flower is tiny, Hugh and I playing on the beach makes me happy, the daffodil smells nice and the kiwi is unique to our country.  

I really enjoyed this day off school! and I just want to say thanks Mrs King!                                                      

Senses Scavenger Hunt

 These are my things that I found. Guitar is loud. Foot brush is rough. Mums vitamin powder smells bad. Cracker bark is crunchy. Pounamu is smooth. Rubix cube is quiet. A candle smells nice. Hot chocolate is sweet. I have 3 clips the same. My teddy Spot is soft. Slumber the sloth has long arms and legs. His arms are longer than his legs. A sour worm lolly is sour. I enjoyed it more than the other scavenger hunt because I got to eat the things I found at the end, not all of the things though.  

My Lego creation

This is my Lego creation. 

It is of a jungle animal rescue centre. It has two elephants. A Mum and a baby , two sloths and three girl vets.  Its a tree house with a pink slide. There is a cafe with pizza. A drone and some bunks in a cabin. There were four packs to build. I did it all by myself. It  took me roundabout a week.

  

 

Sylvanian Family's , Hedgehog

 This is my hedgehog family. they are Sylvanian family's. I also have a rabbit, a squirrel family and one little otter. The rabbit family came with a big boat too. The boat has tons of little bits and pieces with it. Two of my small hedgehogs came withe a little purple train witch had a seat and a bit where someone could push it. I have some bunks and some bookshelves that came with other bits and pieces to.

A Secret Garden

  A SECRET GARDEN

I had to move away from my home because my parents had work away from home. I loved where I was and I did not want to leave but I guess I had to. My parents didn’t get to spend much time with me. I was a single child and that meant that I had to stay with my parents' friends for a while and so I went exploring the house. I thought it was haunted for a while. I went exploring outside. It was wonderful outside. I was speechless for a moment but then I got my voice back. It got a little bit chilly so I went back to the house and got some warmer clothes.Then I went back outside when I was outside I discovered that these friends of my parents had children! Now you're probably wondering how I found this out well by peeking through a window and seeing two wonderful children playing and giggling together. One was a girl and one was a boy.The boy was about the same age as me and the girl was a little bit younger. They nearly saw me but I ducked just in time. Then I heard footsteps,someone  no two  someones were coming my way, then I heard the door open. I ran around the corner so they couldn't see me. Then I heard them coming round the corner so I ran. But then  tripped, fell and got caught  but luckily it was just the children.  They didn’t growl at me or shout or anything like that really. In fact they only asked if I would like to play with them. I said that if they wanted to play with me they would have to keep it a secret because I wasn't supposed to be outside. They said that they would keep the secret but there was something that I had to do first. I had to complete their smartness and strength trial. They said to follow so I followed them. They brought me to a big wall and told me that I had to find a key to the door in the wall. I went inside to try and find the key and then I remembered that I saw a key in the drawer that was in their mothers room or you could say one of their mothers rooms. You see the house was huge. I went and opened the drawer and found the key exactly where it was before. I picked it up and went outside when I got there they were still waiting for me and then asked if I had found the key I said that I found a key but I didn’t know if it was the one to the door. They said to try it in the door so I tried it in the door and it worked. We went inside and found a garden that was waiting to be planted so we planted the garden over time the garden grew and eventually

it was the most beautiful garden you would ever see. We visited it every day and became great friends. We had picnics, played games in the garden and sometimes we would plant new plants. Then one day we found another part of the garden. In that part of the garden there was a swing with a beautiful curved wall around it and a big tree the swing hang of that tree. The swing looked rather old, so did the wall. We could tell that no one had been in here for a long time. We also discovered some photos of the children and I. They were old and crumpled. In the picture there was me and the children  playing together in this exact garden with our parents. Oh how wonderful this photo was I thought.we found the photo in this drawer. The drawer was in a different curved wall. What was different about the wall was that it had a big door in it and it also had a roof. It looked kind of like a gnome house except there weren't any gnomes. One year later, I got a letter saying my parents were coming to pick me up. I did not want to go though because I was now happy where I was. When they arrived I told them that I didn’t want to leave and then they started laughing. I asked why they were laughing and they said that they figured that I wasn’t going to want to leave so they organised for them to live there so I showed them around the place and told them everything that happened. And we lived happily ever after.

Feeding The Birds

I fed the birds today there were tonnes of wax eyes and one sparrow that ate the food. We have two Kauri trees in our front yard and we have a feeder in each one that's where we put the food. They eat the most in the morning. One time there was like twelve wax eyes in there at once. The sound they make is incredible. Their colours are beautiful.

The Recycling Cat

     

This is my recycling cat. It picks up rubbish with its tongue it picks the rubbish up when it doesn't have it's legs on and pushes the rubbish in to a box. You can move the tongue by wobbling the ice cream stick from side to side. If you are not using it you put his legs on. I used 1 tissue box, 1 really big box, 1 really small box, 20 toilet rolls, 1  really long toilet roll and some other little scraps. I really enjoyed it.

Scavenger Hunt

Today I did a Scavenger Hunt. I found it hard to find a circle that turns and something shaped as a triangle. i also found it fun. The turning circle that I found hard to find was a motorbike wheel and the triangle shape was a guitar pick. My hexagon was my shelf with all my favourite animals on it.

Finishing My Puzzle

                               

This is my 500 piece puzzle! I got it for my birthday from a boy named Aahil. I started it two days after my birthday party. I had been working on it every day but then we went on holiday for a whole week. So I couldn't do it on holiday. but then lock down barged in and I have got tonnes of time to finish my puzzle and I did.

First Animation

We were learning how to make a animation.  I found it hard because we needed to use lots of different skills.This  is how I made it.  I made a turtle out of shapes then I grouped it and made a background to move it around. 

Next time I will improve on  getting more slides done.  

Fraction Video

 

Hi my name is Isla. This is the first DLO I have done. We have been learning about different fractions  like quarters, eighths and half's. I really enjoyed doing it because we got to get photos of explore but it was also really hard because we had to explain what the numerator and the denominator are. I think every body has done well and I hope we do another one soon.

Art Term One

 

Hi I hope you like this blog. 

This is about my art  and it is about what we like, do and thing's like that. First we had to dye the background  we had a chose a few colours and I choose all of them. Then Mrs Long took photos of us. Then she told us what we were writing about and then we got started. I think I did fine I liked the other peoples writing too. After we had finished our writing we printed out our writing and the photo. Then we glued it on to the background that we painted and then we were done. 

All About Me

This is my first introduction. We are learning how to blog. I had to think about lots of things about me.

Hi, my name is Isla. I am 7 years old. I am a girl. I have 5 pet’s their names are Belle, Hugh, Sam, Lilly, and Cheeky. Lilly and Cheeky are rabbit’s, Belle and Sam are cats and last but definitely not least is Hugh she is a dog. I have 4 people in my family including me.There name’s are Lincoln, Sasha and Warwick. Sasha is my mum, Warwick is my dad and Lincoln is my brother. I love singing and dancing. I do lot’s of sports. My favourite one out of all of the sports that I do is contemporary dance. The name’s of all of my sport’s that I am doing at the moment are stretch, soccer, netball, hip hop and contemporary. My favourite song is Bang, it is my favourite song because I know all of the words. My teacher is Mrs Long. My class name is Tui. My very best friend’s are Violet and Olly. I have known Olly since I was 4 and me and Violet are cousins. My favourite place at school is the fort. It's my favourite place because there are all the trees and bushes. My favourite food is ice cream and stirfry.  My favourite  animals are cat’s, any type of cat. Big cats, small cats, snow leopards, lions, black panthers, whatever cat I  love them all. My favourite thing to do in class time is reading. I also like reading in my own time. My favourite colour is blue. I am half Maori and European. I go on lots of adventures. I am a year three student and my big brother is a year 5. My favourite fruit is passion fruit. It is my favourite fruit because it is sweet and the seed’s are crunchy. I am really good at running. I go to competition’s and I go against people in New Zealand, sometimes one or two or three people from Australia.
